Purpose of this SiteMy name is Stephanie Ihrke and I am currently taking a course on Creative Occupations in the Occupational Therapy program at Creighton University. This site will allow me to display my reflections of learning and experiences while taking this course. Incorporating creative occupations into occupational therapy practice can be useful for a variety of clients and exciting for therapists and clients alike! |
What is Occupational Therapy?
Occupational therapy in its most simple form may be described as helping people do the activities (occupations) in life that they find meaningful or important. This may range from helping a patient shower after a significant surgery to re-teaching a patient how to fish while recovering from a stroke. |
What are Creative Occupations?Creative occupations include any activities that incorporate creative expression. Such activities may include, art, dance, photography, and music. The sky is the limit in thinking of creative occupations to implement in occupational therapy practice! |
